Certificates will be sold to enterprises that do not provide themselves with energy from renewable energy sources. The President signed a law with new measures to promote green energy in Uzbekistan. The document was published in the Lex.uz database.
The law passed the lower house of the Oliy Majlis in December 2023, and received approval from the Senate in January.
They amend the law “On the Use of Renewable Energy Sources”, as well as the Tax Code.
Thus, connection to the general power grid of generation installations using renewable energy sources with a capacity of 300 kW and above will be carried out only after their registration with a specially authorized government agency.
In addition, an amendment is being introduced to the Tax Code on benefits for owners of solar and wind electrical installations.
Income from the sale of green energy certificates will be exempt from income tax.
The introduction of “green” certificates was provided for by the state program for 2023.
It is expected that they will be purchased by enterprises as an alternative to installing photo panels to provide themselves with energy from environmentally friendly sources by at least 30%.
The procedure for issuing and issuing green energy certificates was approved last October.
To issue certificates, registration of the generation facility and payment of a one-time fee are required – the equivalent of 500 euros for a power of up to 3 MW and 1000 euros for a higher power.
Certificates are put up for exchange trading in the form of standard lots.
Each certificate represents the equivalent of 1000 kWh of electricity generated from renewable sources (hydroelectric power station, solar, wind energy).
Earlier, Spot wrote that in Uzbekistan this year it is planned to launch an additional 3.5 GW of green energy capacity.
