On September 29, 2023, the USAID Power Central Asia Activity (PCA) proudly co-sponsored and presented at the energy session of the International Dushanbe Invest conference – a remarkable event that united 650 participants from 40 countries!
Over 50 participants joined the energy session, which highlighted Tajikistan’s vast potential for clean energy development. The session featured distinguished speakers, including Minister Daler Juma of Energy and Water Resources, and the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The USAID/Tajikistan Mission Director, Peter Riley, welcomed the participants, confirming USAID’s commitment to support the Government of Tajikistan in its efforts to diversify and expand the energy sector, increase clean energy production, and develop the country’s sustainable hydropower capacity. USAID showcased its impactful work in Tajikistan, from identifying renewable energy zones to the impressive Murghab Solar Power Plant project. Power Central Asia experts also offered recommendations for regional electricity trade and vital capacity-building initiatives.
During this event, we were also honored to witness the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MEWR) and private companies from the UAE, marking a significant step in expanding international cooperation in renewable energy projects.
