On May 24, 2024, as part of the ongoing collaboration between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, a ceremony was held to hand over essential equipment for the energy sector.
During the event, USAID transferred LiDAR equipment to the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic. This equipment will continuously measure wind direction and speed at heights ranging from 10 to 300 meters.
Additionally, specialized training was provided for technicians to effectively utilize this equipment. Along with the LiDARtechnology, computer equipment was also delivered to enhance the efficiency of operational tasks and energy management processes.
The handover ceremony was attended by Kaya Adams, USAID Mission Director in the Kyrgyz Republic, Minister of Energy T. Ibraev, as well as representatives from USAID and various energy companies.
In his speech, Minister T. Ibraev highlighted the significance of USAID’s ongoing support for the energy sector and the value of the equipment provided today.
“USAID-supported projects play a crucial role in our pursuit of sustainable development goals. The equipment we are receiving today will not only aid in the efficient use of renewable energy sources but also improve the accuracy of our forecasts, becoming an invaluable tool for planning and operating wind farms. With precise data, the Kyrgyz Republic can create favorable conditions for international investors and expand wind energy projects at more competitive rates,” said Minister Ibraev.
