Women leaders from the energy sector meet with DAS in Almaty
Today, on July 2, USAID launched a 52.32-kilowatt rooftop solar panel system in Almaty! USAID’s Power Central Asia Activity installed 96 solar panels atop Talud Shopping Center, which provided co-financing for the project. The solar panel array will reduce electricity costs and eliminate 60,445 kg carbon dioxide emissions annually, the equivalent of planting 2,747 trees. USAID’s Acting Regional Mission Director for Central Asia, Monique Mosolf, led the handover ceremony.
As Kazakhstan works towards decarbonizing its economy and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, USAID aims to assess the challenges and opportunities for scaling up urban rooftop solar photovoltaic systems nationwide.
Through efforts like this, USAID continues to support clean energy development, enhance energy security, and promote environmental sustainability.
